beginningnessssss

So I’m starting a tumblr for this crazy NetLab that I’m helping out with over the summer and beyond.  It will include musings, cool things, and if all goes according to plan… RESEARCH.

NetLab is a research lab affiliated with Columbia University GSAPP.  It is headed up by Kazys Varnelis, who I’m very glad to be able to know.

NetLab concerns itself with exploring/understanding contemporary culture by looking at network logics, which is increasingly how the flows of things like information, people, urbanization, economics, and technology can be understood.  By looking at network systems and revealing connections that exist between disparate things, we can begin to understand and propose solutions for our infinitesimally complex and multivalent global culture.  The list of applicable things is virtually endless, from the seemingly meaningless (e.g. internet memes), to the irrefutably life-altering (e.g. financial crisis).

The analytical work done within NetLab culminates in all sorts of interesting publications and research projects. You can take a look here:  http://www.networkarchitecturelab.org

.

Basically what I’m saying is I’m working for a think tank.

And I’m excited.
